The Other Vaults

Beyond Karro, the plague wears other faces. In Rill, the frozen are kept at home and greeted from doorsteps. In Varro, they stand in shrines, and the city is afraid of them. Tam travels to both, and finds the same dream underneath: one city, shared by every dreamer everywhere.

The cold ones are being counted across all three cities, in a sequence of numbers that should not exist. And at the Held Door, Tam finally learns who has been holding it shut for twelve years, and why the door is thinnest exactly where his father stands.

The Other Vaults is Book Three of The Stone Plague, the book where the map opens and the story stops being about one city.
