About the novel

Synopsis

Tam can hear the dreamers. Now he is learning to walk where they walk: a city of pale stone rising out of the dark, built street by street by the taken, beautiful and unfinished and waiting.

Inside the dream, Bram the baker refuses to be rescued, and his refusal cracks Tam's crew and his certainty. A first attempt at waking goes wrong in a way that cannot be undone, and the Registry's own records begin to show a pattern: one statue in Karro was never checked for warmth at all.

The Dream City is Book Two of The Stone Plague. The mystery widens from one boy's gift to the question underneath it: what is the dream city for?
